Tenerife - Canary Islands

Few months ago, I had the opportunity to visit Tenerife, which is one of the seven islands of the Canary Islands archipelago, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This region belongs to Spain but is almost in front of Morocco.

The seven islands are pretty different, some looks like deserts with just sand, beaches and wind (perfect for certain sports) and others are bigger and wild, like Tenerife.

My week started with the visit of a cute city full of colorful buildings called La Laguna. Behind the doors, you can have access to gardens in sort of patio. With the temperate climate all year (around 20°C) vegetation grows easily.

I went to another garden pretty famous on the island because it’s located in the biggest city : Santa Cruz de Tenerife. You can found palm trees, cactus, even mango and ananas. There is also the biggest dock of Spain and the city organise a carnival every year, so there is also a lot of tourists.

Let’s do a little break at Teresita’s beach and if you are in a sportive mood I really recommend you to walk to the side of the beach in order to discover this incredible view.

And if some sides of the island looks really like paradise with transparent water and white sand, you also have wild area but beautiful too and well known by surfers.

Okay now, I bring you to another level: I did paragliding from the highest volcano of the island called “El Teide”. Honestly I love extreme sport so jumping in the void doesn’t scare me, but if you hesitate I really encourage you to try because the view from the air cannot be compared to anything else. It worth it 100%!

If this kind of sport isn’t for you don’t worry you can also take the road by car and keep on walking to have an amazing view looking a bit like a moon landscape or desert. That’s what is pretty interesting in Tenerife: you can have a lot of different views all around the island.

What else… Oh yes I chilled in another tropical garden.

I also enjoyed the swimming pool on the rooftop of the hotel before coming back to Paris.
