MILANO FASHION WEEK

If Paris is generally considered as the high fashion capital, Milano also knows how to shake the fashion world. During 7 days, the trends for fall and winter 2021/2022 were revealed under the eyes or let’s say cameras. Still no public due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, all the brands had broadcast their show online to allow anyone to be at the front row of the show.

Little reminder : I can’t present all the shows, because the article would required 3h to be read. So I selected the ones which are the most aesthetics or the most interesting at different levels. Indeed, fashion is more than just about appearance, it’s a know-how that persists through the ages and tells a period of history or expresses a futuristic idea…

I could explain my philosophy for fashion for hours but because you’re not here for this, let’s go directly to the description of certain shows.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FENDI

A decor like a privatized museum, FENDI models dressed only in neutral tones camel, beige, black, cream and white walking silently under the cameras that replaced the fashionistas of the first rows. This time, Kim Jones draws inspiration from the ambitious and business women for whom he creates functional and classic outfits, easy to wear and to accessorize. Indeed, we find the long coat characteristic of the autumn/winter season accompanied by lighter clothes like mini crop top pulls in wool, tweed shorts and of course the riding boots that we constantly see at every corner of the street. A must have to get!

PRADA

Forget the adjusted shapes of Fendi and dive into the oversize at PRADA. We are still in autumn-winter so the coat remains the flagship piece and to add a touch of originality prefer green and blue or a darker piece with colourful shoes and gloves to brighten your complete outfit. The furs are obviously always topical and you can even dare the total look "fur" with a hair bag.

ARMANI

This season ARMANI remains a benchmark in fashion that can adapt to the health situation by creating both classic work outfits, especially to go to the office, but also more lounge wear pieces that will allow you to combine comfort and aesthetics throughout the day. To facilitate clothing associations, we have to use neutral tones: from light grey to black timeless to navy blue. The blazers are perfect for the season and come to structure an outfit composed of clothes with relatively fluid materials. Indeed, we find short, bustier, up-collar tops, blouses and a few bent pulls on the man side.

PUCCI

Yes, this article only includes italian brands, so this allows both to debrief the collections presented by the big names of fashion while incorporating some less known creators.

That is how I wanted to introduce you EMILIO PUCCI. Born in Naples in 1914 he is quickly nicknamed "the prince of prints" and fits perfectly into the fashion trends of the 60's punctuated by flashy colors, graphic patterns and pop prints. He first began a political and military career and then added to his daily life the profession of stylist. He photographed one of his friends walking down the slopes of the ski resort of Zermatt in Switzerland, fully dressed in a tight suit. The outfit seduced several fashion magazines and the consecration of his eponymous brand Emilio Pucci was not long overdue.

For fall 2021, the outfits are characterised by a certain originality in the choice of the patterns and colors. We find the super tight jumpsuit in reference to the first success of the creator. It’s not easy to assume but easy to wear when you don't know how to pair clothes in the morning.

VALENTINO

Definitely one of my favorite creators, Anthony Vacarello launches a show composed of 66 looks with a very clean black and white background. Strict face attitude, structured clothing, the show begins with the must have of autumn: blazer jacket, long or short coats, pull-over close to the body, before turning to more oversize cuts without changing tones since we remain in an exclusive black and white. Forget jeans, this season VALENTINO put only shorts, skirts and dresses to wear with boots or styleto. Finally, the ultra glamorous touch to adopt in case of night out or improvised galas is the black transparent dress, in large mesh or in simple veil.

DOLCE & GABBANA

The Tik Tok generation is featured at DOLCE & GABBANA. The idea is to bring a fun, colourful and unexpected touch to break fashion codes. Strass, glitter, bright colors, oversize and ultra short, everything is done to demonstrate "this immense freedom that the new generation brings us" says Stefano Gabbana during an interview. Lock-down requires, sweaters, puffy jackets, joggings and padded jackets remain the main theme of the show.

Finally few collections will have been presented, but this article gives you a global view of Milan fashion week FW21 which is marked by a balance between classic, chic looks with neutral tones and on the other hand, the originality through particularly colorful pieces, so you can adapt your outfit to your mood of the day.

You can find more information about this season directly on the Milan Fashion Week website or on the Vogue Runway app, from which all the photos in this article were taken.
